A British safety footwear company has launched a new range of work boots inspired by classic skater shoes, combining fashion with function for workers in demanding industries.
Rock Fall, based in Derbyshire, has unveiled the Maple RF625 and Anaheim RF620 models, designed to offer high levels of protection while embracing a streetwear aesthetic. The company says the move reflects a growing demand for workwear that prioritises both style and safety.
Blending Skate Culture with Workplace Safety
Rock Fall’s latest designs draw inspiration from the iconic look and comfort of skater shoes, featuring a sleek, low-profile build that sets them apart from traditional safety boots. The company believes this modern approach will appeal to a workforce that values both self-expression and practicality.
“Skateboarding has always been about pushing boundaries, whether in tricks or style,” a Rock Fall spokesperson said. “We’ve taken that mindset and applied it to safety footwear, creating boots that deliver robust protection without compromising on aesthetics.”
The Maple and Anaheim models are crafted with high-quality materials, including water-resistant nubuck leather uppers available in black or honey. The boots have been designed to withstand tough work environments while ensuring wearers remain comfortable throughout the day.
Key Features and Sustainability Focus
Among the standout features of the new footwear is a slip-resistant outsole made from EPR/Nitrile Rubber, designed to provide strong traction on various surfaces, reducing the risk of workplace accidents.
The boots also include an anti-perforation midsole developed using para-aramid materials from Activ-Step® Footwear Components, ensuring additional protection on the job. A composite toe cap offers impact resistance while maintaining a lightweight feel.
In line with growing sustainability efforts across the industry, Rock Fall has incorporated several eco-friendly elements into the new designs. The boots feature a heel counter made from 60% recycled TPU, a bio-based footbed containing 73% natural rubber, and a 100% recycled post-consumer polyester sock liner. The collar lining also utilises recycled polyester, supporting the company’s commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Comfort has been a key consideration in the design process. The boots include cushioned insoles, padded collars, and an EPR midsole layer, aimed at reducing foot fatigue and improving shock absorption. A scuff cap has also been added to enhance durability.
A New Era for Safety Footwear
Rock Fall believes its new designs mark a shift in workplace footwear, demonstrating that safety boots no longer need to be purely functional in appearance.
“Gone are the days when work boots were just about protection,” the spokesperson added. “These new styles bring together high-performance safety features and modern aesthetics, catering to a workforce that wants both reliability and individuality.”
The Maple RF625 and Anaheim RF620 safety boots will be available from mid-February 2025 through Rock Fall’s authorised UK distribution partners. Full specifications can be found online.
