VitrA Tiles has officially activated its Aksaray solar power plant, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and green energy.
As part of the Eczacıbaşı Group, VitrA Tiles continues to make significant strides in its renewable energy transition. The Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP), now fully operational, follows the installation of a 3.5 MW rooftop solar power plant in Bozüyük in 2023. With a 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this investment will enable more than half of the electricity used in its Turkish operations this year to be sourced from renewable energy.
Investing in a Sustainable Future
The newly commissioned Aksaray SPP is set to generate enough electricity to power approximately 19,700 households per year. The plant, which features 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity, will help cut carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes annually.
VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”
Construction of the Aksaray SPP commenced in April 2024, with electricity production beginning in February 2025 after the successful completion of PV modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This initiative not only benefits the environment but also sets a new standard for renewable energy adoption within the industry.
