Yorkshire-based housebuilder Miller Homes has started 2025 by donating more than £10,000 to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, supporting vital projects including the hospital’s new National Centre for Child Health Technology (NCCHT).
The donation was the culmination of a year-long fundraising effort after the company chose the hospital as its charity partner for 2024. Events such as bake sales, raffles, Christmas Jumper Day, and the company’s Active April initiative helped the team reach the impressive total.
Active April, in particular, saw Miller Homes pledge £1 for every step walked by employees during the month, with additional funds raised through festive contributions to the hospital’s toy appeal in December.
Debbie Whittingham, Regional Sales Director for Miller Homes Yorkshire, highlighted the team’s enthusiasm for supporting local causes. “Each year, we choose a Yorkshire-based charity to support. For the last few years, Sheffield Children’s Hospital has been our focus. Thanks to the generosity of our team, their friends, and family, we’ve raised a fantastic amount to help fund vital projects, which we were proud to hand over to the charity team,” she said.
The funds will support the hospital’s NCCHT project, a pioneering initiative designed to address critical challenges in children’s healthcare. The centre aims to develop cutting-edge research and technologies, uniting children, clinicians, inventors, and engineers under one roof. Facilities will include advanced manufacturing and digital development spaces, with opportunities to deliver clinical care directly within the building.
“It’s important for our team to give back to the region where we work and build communities for people to enjoy our homes,” added Whittingham. “We look forward to announcing our 2025 charity partner, chosen by the entire team, in the coming weeks.”
Harriet Keynes, Corporate Partnerships Officer for the hospital, expressed her gratitude for the support. “This is a wonderful donation from Miller Homes, and we are extremely grateful for their ongoing efforts. There are four key areas The Children’s Hospital Charity focuses on: specialist medical equipment, new facilities, research, and creating a comfortable, engaging environment. The funds raised will help us deliver on these priorities in the coming months.”
Miller Homes currently has eight developments across Yorkshire, with at least three more set to launch in 2025.
The housebuilder’s continued commitment to charitable initiatives reflects its broader mission to strengthen the communities where it operates, making a tangible difference to local lives.
