A special evening concert will be held at Milton Hall near Peterborough on Saturday, 30th November, to raise funds for the community group Helping Our Ukrainian Friends. Hosted by Sir Philip Naylor-Leyland and his wife, Lady Isabella, the concert will feature a performance by the renowned choral group Singers of Note, aiming to support vital aid for Ukraine amidst ongoing conflict.
Helping Our Ukrainian Friends is a grassroots organisation formed in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since its inception in March 2022, the group has raised over £250,000 and delivered more than 50 tonnes of essential aid to Ukraine. This includes 37 generators, thousands of lights and batteries, camping stoves, and over 2,000 gift boxes for Ukrainian children during Christmas and Easter.
The charity’s mission extends beyond physical aid, with the group also providing emotional and psychological support to Ukrainian widows and children through summer camps in Poland. These camps offer much-needed respite and counselling to those affected by the conflict.
Singers of Note, an acclaimed four-part harmony choir, will perform a diverse programme of music at the concert, including both show tunes and classical pieces. The group, which has garnered praise for its rich vocal performances, will be conducted by Margaret Blenkin. The performance will take place in the Long Gallery of Milton Hall, a historic venue that has been home to the Naylor-Leyland family since 1502.
Sir Philip Naylor-Leyland, whose family has long been associated with Milton Hall, spoke about the importance of the event, particularly in light of the ongoing war in Ukraine. “With the war in Ukraine seemingly intensifying, the work done by Helping Our Ukrainian Friends has never been more important, particularly with Christmas approaching. The concert will not only be a musical treat for the audience but will also raise much-needed funds for the group at this crucial time,” he said.
The event will offer the audience an opportunity to enjoy an evening of high-quality music while supporting a vital cause. All proceeds from the concert will go directly to Helping Our Ukrainian Friends, supporting their ongoing efforts to provide aid to those affected by the war.
The concert will begin at 7pm in the stunning surroundings of Milton Hall’s Long Gallery. Tickets are available for those wishing to attend the event and contribute to the humanitarian work being done by the charity. With winter fast approaching and the situation in Ukraine continuing to evolve, the funds raised will be instrumental in helping the group continue its life-saving work.
