Hard Rock International has announced a year-long collaboration with global superstar and humanitarian Shakira in celebration of International Women’s Month and International Women’s Day on 8 March. The partnership aims to amplify women’s voices, encourage authenticity, and foster unity through music.
The initiative includes a series of 1,000 women-led performances across Hard Rock venues worldwide, with fundraising efforts spearheaded by the Hard Rock Heals Foundation. A portion of the proceeds will support Shakira’s Pies Descalzos Foundation, which works to improve education and social opportunities for girls in vulnerable communities in Colombia, as well as other local women’s charities. The Hard Rock Heals Foundation has also pledged a $250,000 donation to the Pies Descalzos Foundation.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the collaboration, Shakira said: “I’m excited to partner with Hard Rock, an organisation with an incredible history of uplifting women through the power of music, to empower my sisters this International Women’s Day and beyond. Together, we can use our voices to break barriers and make the world a more inclusive space where every woman feels confident being themselves.”
As part of the initiative, Hard Rock Cafes will feature some of Shakira’s favourite dishes on their menus for a limited time. Among them are the “Hips Don’t Lie” cocktail, crafted with tequila, elderflower liqueur, muddled strawberries, and cucumbers, a Chicken Fattoush Salad reflecting her Lebanese heritage, the Hamburguesa Colombiana, and a Dulce De Leche Hot Fudge Brownie.
Shakira will also serve as the face of Hard Rock’s official International Women’s Month merchandise, including a t-shirt, hoodie, and pin, available at Rock Shops and online at shop.hardrock.com.
Elena Alvarez, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Brand Partnerships at Seminole Gaming and Hard Rock International, highlighted the shared commitment to celebrating women through music. “From concerts to her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran album release party and being part of the Unity™ by Hard Rock loyalty programme commercial, Hard Rock and Shakira’s shared values of honouring women through music have connected us over the course of her groundbreaking career. This year, we encourage women to raise their voices, share their stories, and lift each other up.”
Hard Rock Hotels will also be participating in the campaign through their exclusive Sound of Your Stay® programme. Guests will have access to all-women Spotify playlists, designed to set the mood for their stay, and will be able to check out vinyl records featuring ten iconic female artists to play in their rooms.
The initiative forms part of Hard Rock’s broader commitment to supporting women and promoting inclusivity in the music industry.
