Birmingham-based outsourcing specialist Sigma Connected has reached a significant fundraising milestone, raising £100,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. The company, which provides contact centre services across various sectors, has been supporting the charity since 2017, with donations benefiting the hospital’s life-saving work and helping to create child-friendly spaces for patients.
This achievement sees Sigma Connected join an exclusive group of “Changemakers” for the charity, a title reserved for businesses and leaders whose efforts contribute to purchasing cutting-edge medical equipment and improving the hospital environment for its young patients. The £100,000 raised will go towards ensuring the hospital continues to offer world-class care to hundreds of thousands of children each year.
Mike Harfield, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Sigma Connected Group, expressed his pride in the company’s efforts. He said: “As a business, we’ve grown significantly in the past decade, employing over 5,000 people across the UK and South Africa. While our staff are based nationwide, many of them are based in Birmingham, and we are proud to support the city’s hospital.”
He continued: “Our fundraising has been driven by the passion of our staff, many of whom have had personal experiences with the hospital’s exceptional services. Reaching £100,000 is a fantastic milestone, but we have bigger plans for 2025, aiming to raise even more to support the continued transformation of the hospital.”
Since its first donation in 2017, Sigma Connected has organised a wide range of fundraising events, with staff members actively involved in initiatives designed to make a tangible difference to the hospital’s work. The company’s ongoing support plays a crucial role in enhancing the experience of sick children and their families, helping fund vital improvements in care and the hospital environment.
Helen Miles, Head of Partnerships at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, praised Sigma Connected’s dedication. She said: “We are truly grateful for the kindness and support we’ve received from everyone at Sigma Connected. Reaching the £100,000 milestone is a remarkable achievement, and the impact it will have on our patients cannot be overstated.”
Miles added that the funds have allowed the charity to invest in new medical technologies, as well as to create more welcoming, child-friendly spaces within the hospital. “Partnerships like the one we have with Sigma Connected, who not only donate but also get actively involved in events, are incredibly special. We’re excited about what this partnership will bring in the future,” she said.
To mark the fundraising milestone, representatives from Birmingham Children’s Hospital, including Miles, Mark Brider, and Katie Harris, visited Sigma Connected’s Birmingham offices for a special celebration. During the visit, they met with the company’s Executive team and staff members who have been instrumental in supporting the charity.
The £100,000 raised by Sigma Connected will continue to make a lasting difference to the lives of children receiving care at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
